Fall semester in Rexburg has its own rhythm. Classes are in full swing, the leaves start changing, and cooler days make it a great time to get out with roommates and friends before winter settles in.
Whether you're new to Brigham Young University-Idaho or you've spent a few semesters here already, there are plenty of things to do in Rexburg in the fall. From live performances and community festivals to Halloween celebrations and inexpensive nights with friends, here are a few ways to make the most of the season.
Catch a BYU-Idaho Performance
If live entertainment is your thing, start with BYUI Live!. The university renamed its longtime Center Stage series BYUI Live! in 2026, and the fall lineup includes concerts, comedy, and other performances.
Singer-songwriter Jake Scott performs at Hart Auditorium on November 13, 2026, while A BYUI Christmas featuring GENTRI, Emma Nissen, and BYU-Idaho choirs and orchestras is scheduled for December 5, 2026.
Beyond BYUI Live!, students can find music and theatre productions throughout the semester, including Romeo and Juliet in November. Check the BYU-Idaho events calendar for current BYU-Idaho events, dates, and availability.
Celebrate the Harvest at OkTUBERfest
Looking for fall activities in Rexburg with a distinctly local twist? It doesn't get much more Idaho than a festival dedicated to potatoes.
Rexburg's annual OkTUBERfest is scheduled for October 10, 2026, at the Rexburg Tabernacle. The community harvest festival runs from 4 p.m. until dusk and celebrates fall and the local harvest. Previous festivals have included live music, dancing, crafts, races, and, naturally, plenty of potato-themed fun.
It's an easy option for a roommate outing, group activity, or fall date. Check Rexburg Cultural Arts for event details before you go.
Celebrate Halloween at Hemming Village
Halloween is another highlight on the Rexburg fall events calendar.
This year's Wizards at Hemming Village takes place on October 30, 2026, from 4-7 p.m. Hemming Village transforms for the celebration, with carnival games, trick-or-treating, rides, a climbing wall, a live DJ, food vendors, and other activities planned.
The best part? It's free!
Get Outside Before Rexburg Winter Arrives
Fall weather doesn't stick around forever in Rexburg, so take advantage of those crisp afternoons while you can.
A walk through Nature Park, an afternoon outside with roommates, or a drive to see the fall colors can be a welcome break from classes. BYU-Idaho also offers outdoor recreation opportunities for students who want something more adventurous.
Check local and campus calendars for football games, theatre performances, community events, and other activities that give you a reason to get out and enjoy Rexburg this fall. Just remember that Idaho weather can change quickly. Check conditions before heading farther from town, especially later in the semester.
Have Fun Without Spending a Lot
College budgets don't always leave much room for entertainment, but some of the best things to do near BYU-Idaho don't require a big budget.
Check campus and community calendars for free events, take a walk with friends, or grab your roommates for a game or movie night.
Fall semester doesn't need to be packed with plans to be memorable. Pick a couple of BYU-Idaho fall activities, invite someone along, and enjoy Rexburg before those crisp fall afternoons turn into snowy ones.
Make Fall Convenient at Cedars
